International Dance Day falls on the 29th of April every year! How lucky we are to have a whole day dedicated to this wonderful art form. Originally founded by the Dance Committee of ITI in 1982, International Dance Day is celebrated on this day in particular as it is the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, creator of modern ballet!

Attend your favorite dance class!
There is no better way to celebrate dance than to actually get in the studio. Whether it’s your weekly ballet class, a friends dance class, or a whole new style of dance that you’ve been wanting to try for ages, spread the word and celebrate all the great aspects of dance in the studio!
Share a Dance Video
We all know that dance is infectious. Once we see people dancing, smiling and having fun we automatically want to join. Why not Celebrate International Dance Day by sharing your love for dance with the world? Whether it’s a snippet form a recent performance, a freestyle moment in your living room, or fun dance trend on social media. You never know who might feel encouraged to start dancing just by seeing your joy!
Learn About a Dance Style or Culture
Take this opportunity to dive into a dance style you’ve never explored before. From the rhythmic footwork of flamenco to the storytelling of Bharatanatyam, every culture has something beautiful to offer through dance. Watch videos, read up on its history, or even attend a workshop—broadening your knowledge is a powerful way to appreciate the global language of movement.
Movie Day!
What a great excuse to get cozy on the couch with friends or family and go through all your favorite dance featured movies and musicals. If your looking for some inspiration, my all time favorite movie, Singin in The Rain, never disappoints! Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Conner make such an iconic cast. You can also never go wrong with Grease, La La Land or West Side Story ( hot take: Spielberg’s version is better!)
5.Spread the Word
Tell your friends, classmates, coworkers—anyone who will listen—about International Dance Day! Post on social media, share your favorite dance memory, or invite someone to a class or event. The more we talk about dance, the more we highlight its ability to bring people together, lift spirits, and express what words sometimes can’t.
